Organizational Assessment Services
Our national thought leaders in campus safety and policing have years of experience helping clients navigate the rapidly evolving campus safety and security landscape.
We assist our clients in identifying where they can or should consider change to improve their ability to perform, to develop culturally, and to strengthen leadership at all levels within a campus safety organization, regardless of the institution’s safety model. We take a holistic approach to assessing organizational effectiveness – our teams are comprised of campus safety practitioners, student affairs professionals, and others who combine to represent the full spectrum of campus safety stakeholders.
Our unique, systematic, and inclusive method of collecting and analyzing data has a proven track record of success in assisting organizations in implementing best practices for campus safety and implementing promising practices. Our information gathering is sensitive to the culture and climate of each institution. We cast a broad net that includes all spheres of influence, from the newest students to the most tenured leaders.
We pride ourselves on being national thought leaders on campus safety, security, and policing and for our depth of understanding of educational institutions and other agencies’ many challenges. This includes issues related to respectful, inclusive, and culturally competent policing, response to protests and demonstrations, engaging with the campus community, and effective leadership.
Services
This review can focus on up to 25 areas, depending on the clients’ needs. For example, administrators might want to assess the climate in a department with a high turnover rate, or perhaps an institution may want to consider how to better engage with the campus community.
We help institutions evolve their campus safety model by engaging with key stakeholders and campus community members and through individual, small group, and open forums to understand expectations and experiences.
This analysis is a data-driven process that gives decision-makers the information they need to understand how to staff the campus safety program properly. Utilizing our proprietary Bi-Dimensional Staffing Formula©, the analysis evaluates the actual workload within a given environment by examining the distribution of calls for service by hour, day, and month; the nature of calls for service; and the time consumed on calls for service in order to calculate an agency shift-relief factor, establish performance objectives, and provide staffing estimates.
We provide interim leadership while campuses are transitioning in any number of ways. Our interim services are available for a short period, such as while a national search is underway or the institution is considering other more complex issues like transitioning to a different model.
After-action reviews are a fundamental necessity to evaluate how the campus responded to an incident and to identify lessons learned for others potentially facing a similar situation. These investigations and reviews aim to identify strengths and lessons learned to develop actionable recommendations for future responses on campus.
Our team of highly qualified and experienced project managers who will support Campus Safety Leadership Teams with developing a custom Written Directive System (policy and procedure) in anticipation of seeking and achieving accreditation through the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA) and the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA).
